GENERAL FAQS

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

It depends on what treatment you will be having done of course. Botox is fairly straightforward, and you pay for the area that you’re having treated. A full diagram of all the different areas can be found on our Botox Treatment page. 1 area is £195, 2 areas are £295 and 3 areas are £395. Filler is slightly more complicated, as our ethos at MD Aesthetic is that everyone is unique, so we don’t offer ‘package’ deals as every treatment is tailored to the individual. Lip Reshaping & Volumising depends on the amount of ml that you have, starting from either £295 for 0.5ml or £385 for 1.0ml. Very few people will have more than 1ml in the first sitting, as we don’t want any duck-lips, but for any further ml on the same day this will be at a reduced rate. Further ml at later appointments will be charged at the standard amount. Our Facial Rebalancing treatments, which encompass chin/jawline/cheek are also charged per ml starting at £485 per ml with subsequent discount for any further ml on the same day. Nose Reshaping and Under Eye Rejuvenation are set prices for the treatment at £485 and £495 respectively.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A CONSULTATION AND TREATMENT DURING THE SAME APPOINTMENT?

All first-time patients to the clinic will have to have a consultation with our Doctor to check suitability for treatment, but also to ensure that you’re happy with any treatment discussed. The majority of our patients have treatment on the same day, as we will normally understand their chosen procedure ahead of time, but if you are unsure, that’s absolutely fine too and we will allocate enough time for consultation and one treatment. Each treatment takes a different amount of time, ranging from 30 to 60 minutes for one procedure, so if you are keen to have more than one area treated on the same day, this would need to be raised when booking your appointment, otherwise we would need to stagger your treatments to the next available clinic day.

HOW CAN I TRUST YOUR DOCTORS ARE TRAINED PROPERLY?

There are many people these days claiming to be ‘medically trained’ to administer either Botox or Filler, and sadly that isn’t the case, and with plenty of horror stories out there, we fully understand why this question is important to so many of you. Firstly, MD Aesthetic firmly believe that no matter how skilful someone may be at injecting, there is far more which goes into running an aesthetics clinic, from understanding patients concerns and body dysmorphia to reviewing complications and emergency situations. That’s why we only ever employ Doctors to administer our Botox and Filler, as it not just about the treatment itself, it’s what happens before and after the treatment that’s the most important aspect of a client journey with us.

Dr Sofia, who is our consultant Doctor for MD Aesthetic, not only bowled us over with her passion for aesthetics along with her skill and dexterity with a needle, but her experience and training were second to none. She has trained extensively in aesthetics with The Royal Society of Medicine in injectable therapies, as well as undertaking courses with Derma Medical London to Advanced level including lip masterclass. She is also a member of ACE Group of Practitioners (Aesthetics Complications Expert).

BOTOX FAQS

WHAT IS BOTOX?

Botox is a trade name of Botulinum Toxin Type A, a purified protein produced by bacteria. It is an example of a natural product used for medicinal purposes, such as penicillin which is produced by fungi.

WHAT IS BOTOX USED FOR?

Most people think that Botox is used to freeze a muscle, as some people who have been administered too much Botox in one sitting (which we never do!) will have a ‘frozen’ appearance. Botox actually blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles and the injected muscle begins to loosen, which causes the wrinkles on the skin above to relax and soften. Botox is used for facial rejuvenation, helping to smooth out lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT BRANDS?

Several different brands of Botox are approved for use in the UK, however we use Allergan’s official Botox brand as we have seen the best and longest lasting results from this product. The results are also based on the skill of the practitioner, so it is much more important to focus on this and select a safe person to administer your treatment.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR THE RESULTS TO SHOW?

Most patients will notice results around 5-7 days after the treatment, though this can take up to 14 days in some cases, especially male clients where the muscles tend to be tighter and stronger.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T LIKE THE RESULTS?

Botox is temporary, so its effectiveness will wear off over the period of a few months and you will recover full use of all facial muscles. We normally underfill on your first visit with a review taking place two weeks later, to top up any additional areas – Botox can be similar to adding sugar in coffee, you can always add but you can’t take away!

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Side effects of this treatment are rare as it is one of the safest cosmetic procedures available. Immediately after the treatment, you might experience slight bleeding, a rash, bruising, swelling or numbness in the area. This is usually only minor, and many patients return to work straight afterwards. A temporary drooping (ptosis) of the eyelid, or mouth and eyebrow lift or droop can occur, which resolves within a few weeks. Some patients report a mild headache after treatment, though this quickly resolves and in fact, those who frequently suffer from headaches may notice a reduction in the extent and severity following Botox treatment.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

Botox will usually last between 2 months and 6 months – it very much differs from person to person

LIP FILLER FAQS

WHAT IS DERMAL FILLER?

Dermal fillers are based on hyaluronic acid (HA), which is naturally occurring in the body within the dermal layer of the skin alongside collagen and elastin. As we age our Hyaluronic Acid levels begin to deplete, especially around the lip area causing them to look creased and lined. Dermal Filler using Hyaluronic Acid helps to plump the skin and replace loss of volume. We also frequently use dermal filler for those not genetically blessed with larger lips to begin with, to provide shape and carefully constructed volume.

WHAT BRANDS OF FILLER DO YOU USE?

For the lips we use either Juvéderm or Teosyal. As everyone is unique, we have a carefully curated selection of reputable brands to work from with different viscosities and properties, to ensure we deliver the best results for you.

DOES IT HURT?

This is probably the most common question we are asked in the clinic by first time patients, and to be honest we would be worried if you didn’t ask this as we want you to care about the treatment you’re about to have. For the lip area, we believe in numbing the area using a numbing cream, dental block is possible however this can restrict blood flow to the area and we have had better results for clients by using a numbing cream. You can sometimes feel the occasional scratch, but this tends be uncomfortable as opposed to painful for the majority of our clients, and we will be there to guide and support you during each and every treatment.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T LIKE THE RESULTS?

All the lip fillers we use are fully reversible from the time they are administered, until the time they are reabsorbed. In the unlikely event you don’t like the results, they can be reversed. Please note that we almost never have to do this – our clients love their lip enhancements – but people find it reassuring that results can be reversed if required, especially if it is your first-time having fillers.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST, AND HOW MUCH CAN I HAVE INJECTED?

Fillers which use Hyaluronic Acid are naturally (and safely) absorbed by the body gradually over time and there are a number of factors which will influence how quickly this happens, but generally for lip filler this can be between 4-8 months. The type of filler used will be one of the key factors in affecting the extent of the lip filler and that’s why we only use proven brands such as Juvéderm and Teosyal. The age and lifestyle of a patient will also drastically affect the longevity, as younger patients with a faster metabolism will break down the filler quicker as opposed to an older client. Due to a number of different factors, we can never guarantee this for clients which we always make clear during any consultation. We also will never overfill anyone’s lips during any session as we never want to risk losing the natural shape of the vermillion border and create a ‘ledge’ that so many of you fear when coming to see us. We will assess the lips during the consultation as everyone has different shapes and volumes, but we will rarely administer any more than 1-1.5ml in one sitting. We would then wait at least 4 weeks before adding any further filler to the lips.

ARE THERE ANY RISKS INVOLVED?

For your complete peace of mind, your treatment at MD Aesthetic will always be carried out by a consultant doctor who is fully trained with plenty of experience. As mentioned above, all our Doctors are fully vetted and only the best will get to don an MD white coat, as they are the only people treating our valued customers to mitigate risks, ensure your safety and deliver individual results that are tailored to you.

Any reaction to fillers would be incredibly rare, because the substance used is sterile and hyaluronic acid is already naturally occurring in your body, thus will have less chance of any adverse effect. We also do a thorough medical check on each and every patient before the consultation takes place, which is then reviewed with the Doctor to check suitability for treatment before any needle leaves its sterile pack.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME FOR THIS TREATMENT?

The lips can experience some swelling for a day or two – this is very normal and happens to most clients so don’t panic when this occurs. Some clients will also bruise, given that the lip area is very vascular with a lot of blood flow, again this is very normal, and we would advocate taking Arnica tablets ahead of the treatment and after to reduce the propensity of bruising. If you have experienced some bruising, you may experience some small bumps in the lips for up to six weeks, which again will always reduce as it’s the body’s natural reaction to healing. They may also exacerbate any natural occurring lumps in the lips (known as mucous retention cysts), and can feel lumpy for several weeks afterwards, which again is very normal.

NOSE RESHAPING FAQS

HOW IS NOSE RESHAPING PERFORMED?

Nose reshaping involves the use of dermal fillers to change the shape of your nose. It is most often used to straighten out a bump, make your profile smoother or to adjust the tip of the nose.

DOES IT HURT?

This is probably the most common question we are asked in the clinic by first time patients, and to be honest we would be worried if you didn’t ask this as we want you to care about the treatment you’re about to have. WHAT IS DERMAL FILLER?

Dermal fillers are based on hyaluronic acid (HA), which is naturally occurring in the body within the dermal layer of the skin alongside collagen and elastin. Dermal Filler using Hyaluronic Acid can help mimic dermal volume in areas where this has been deficient, such as a dorsal hump at the top of the nose.

WHAT BRANDS OF FILLER DO YOU USE?

For liquid rhinoplasty, we use Teosyal. As everyone us unique, we have a carefully curated selection of reputable brands to work from with different viscosities and properties, to ensure we deliver the best results for you.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T LIKE THE RESULTS?

All the nose fillers we use are fully reversible from the time they are administered, until the time they are reabsorbed. In the unlikely event you don’t like the results, they can be reversed. Please note that we almost never have to do this – our clients love their nose enhancements – but people find it reassuring that results can be reversed if required, especially if it is your first-time having fillers.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

The results will usually last around 8-12 months before it needs to be re-administered, but the results are different for everyone.

Some clients will also bruise, again this is very normal, and we would advocate taking Arnica tablets ahead of the treatment and after to reduce the propensity of bruising.

UNDER-EYE REJUVENATION FAQS

HOW IS THE TREATMENT ADMINISTERED?

The tear trough filler rejuvenation will involve a cannula (a special blunt tipped needle with a rounded end) being inserted from the cheek area, and carefully placed to deliver the hyaluronic acid dermal filler to the tear trough area in the hollows just below the eyes which reduces the likelihood of bruising and minimises downtime. The doctor usually gently massages the area to ensure the filler is evenly distributed. This produces a very soft, natural looking and as a result the eyes look youthful and refreshed.

DOES IT HURT?

This is probably the most common question we are asked in the clinic by first time patients, and to be honest we would be worried if you didn’t ask this as we want you to care about the treatment you’re about to have. You can sometimes feel the occasional scratch when the cannula is inserted in the cheek area, but this tends be uncomfortable as opposed to painful for the majority of our clients, and we will be there to guide and support you during each and every treatment.

Dermal fillers are based on hyaluronic acid (HA), which is naturally occurring in the body within the dermal layer of the skin alongside collagen and elastin. As we age our Hyaluronic Acid levels begin to deplete, especially around the eye area causing them to look hollow as the skin is so thin. Dermal Filler using Hyaluronic Acid helps to plump the skin and replace loss of volume.

WHAT BRANDS OF FILLER DO YOU USE?

For Under Eye Rejuvenation, we use Teosyal Redensity 2 which is the only FDA cleared brand of filler to be used within this delicate eye area.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T LIKE THE RESULTS?

The Redensity 2 filler that we use we use is fully reversible from the time it is are administered, until the time it is reabsorbed. In the unlikely event you don’t like the results, they can be reversed. Please note that we almost never have to do this – our clients love their under-eye enhancements – but people find it reassuring that results can be reversed if required, especially if it is your first-time having fillers.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

The results will usually last around 12-18 months before it needs to be re-administered, but the results are different for everyone.
